BoSoma Dance Company under the direction of Katherine Hooper will debut their most innovative production to date, “The Playground” on April 28-29 at Beverly’s Larcom Theatre. In collaboration with celebrated guitarist Scott Tarulli,“The Playground” is a one-hour performance that embraces the kinetic energy that is ignited when improvisation is introduced to modern dance and live music.
Tarulli’s music and Hooper’s choreography will serve as a counterpoint to moments of improvisation by the dancers and musician. The performers and Tarulli will create a dynamic atmosphere where the music and the movements inspire each other for a live collaboration through sound, time, pattern and rhythm. Each show will bring a new and unexpected experience for the audience, based on the choices that the dancers and musician make each night. The opening act for the evening will be the BoSoma Youth Company (BYC) of the BoSoma School of Dance in Hamilton, MA. BYC is a community outreach dance group for ages 9-18 committed to sharing the art of dance at a wide variety of local venues. Tickets are on sale now at www.thelarcom.org.
